Inspired Day of Service
** Registration is now closed for the service events. **
April 21 and April 23, 2022
Since its creation in 2010, the Inspire Scholarship has helped more than 2,500 students attend Delaware State University. As a part of the scholarship, students must complete community service hours and remain academically sound.
The University launched the Inspired Day of Service through this service component requirement. This day of service is a way to give back to communities in Delaware through acts of service. After a hiatus due to COVID-19 and restrictions placed, we are proud to announce the Inspired Day of Service will take place this spring on April 21 and April 23, 2022, and look forward to our University Community – students, faculty and staff – taking part in acts of service for our Delaware community. The event is a great way for Inspire Scholarship recipients to participate in their community service hours, but you do not have to be an Inspire Scholarship recipient to register.
Our two service projects will be:
APRIL 21 | PACKAGING TOILETRIES
Thursday, April 21, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. on the first floor of the Martin Luther King Jr. Student Center
Participants will package toiletries for organizations in each county (Teen Warehouse-New Castle, Peoples Place-Kent, and partner congregations in Sussex County.)
APRIL 23 | FOOD DISTRIBUTION
Saturday, April 23, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. behind the Education and Humanities Building
Participants will assist with a food distribution service event in partnership with the Food Bank of Delaware.
