Building Staff
Equipment Desk
- Facilitate all equipment check-outs
- Ensure all equipment is returned
- Facilitate all lock check-outs for daily use lockers
- Make rounds of the downstairs area (Court #1, Court #2, Wedge lounging area, Locker rooms)
- Enforce all WRC policies and procedures
- Ensure that all equipment is locked in Equipment Storage (Room 108) upon closing
- Assist in the completion of daily equipment related activities (laundry, equipment cleaning, equipment inventory, etc.)
- Attend all Wellness & Recreation student staff meetings and trainings
Front Desk
- Provide quality customer service to all individuals entering the WRC
- Facilitate proper completion of all membership applications
- Enforce all facility rules and procedures
- Monitor all individuals who come through the turnstiles
- Ensure no one enters without a valid ID
- Control music and make sure it is at an appropriate volume
- Maintain organization of all paperwork and materials
- Distribute department flyers and programming materials
- Operates Juice Bar when needed
- Attend all Wellness & Recreation student staff meetings and trainings
Weight Room
- Ensure proper use of all Life Fitness workout equipment
- Enforce all policies and procedures
- Assist members with equipment usage upon request
- Ensure all patrons benching have a spotter
- Re-rack and organize weights as they are used
- Wipe down all pads and handles periodically throughout your shift
- Make sure all gym wipes are replenished and that a wipe can be pulled out
- Make rounds of the weight room area to ensure proper vision of all areas
- Keep desk and paperwork organized
- Attend all Wellness & Recreation student staff meetings and trainings
Building Supervisor
- Assist in the day-to-day supervision of the WRC student staff
- Assist in the supervision of all programs and activities occurring within the WRC
- Monitor daily use of the WRC equipment by all members
- Prepare incident and accident reports when needed
- Attend all bi-weekly professional staff meetings
- Assist in the planning and facilitation of all student staff trainings
- Assist in the planning and facilitation of all student staff development activities
- Ensure all equipment is cleaned properly by student staff and members
- Assist in set-up and break-down of all programs held within the WRC
- Assist in the WRC student staff performance evaluation process
- Perform opening and closing building responsibilities when scheduled
- Other duties as assigned
Main Office Staff
- Assist in the completion of daily office activities such as answering phones, taking messages, sending faxes
- Make copies
- Perform database entry when needed
- Run campus errands
- Assist Office Supervisor with daily responsibilities
- Attend all Wellness & Recreation student staff meetings and trainings
Main Office Supervisor
- Answer phone and take messages for professional staff
- Prepare daily juice bar deposit
- Prepare student staff payroll sheets for signature by Director
- File and logs all WRC membership applications
- File incident and accident reports
- Attend all bi-weekly professional staff meetings
- Assist in the planning and facilitation of all student staff trainings
- Assist in the planning and facilitation of all student staff development activities
- Assist in the editing and preparation of all WRC documents
- Make copies and faxes when needed
- Record notes from student staff and professional staff meetings when needed
Lifeguard
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification required
- CPR/AED Certification required
- Ensure safety of all swimmers in the pool area
- Ensure proper use and return of borrowed equipment
- Participate in monthly staff development and evaluation activities
- Clean pool daily
- Monitor and record all chemical levels
- Refill chemicals on a daily basis
- Monitor pool area to ensure proper use of facility
- Enforce all policies and procedures
- Attend all Wellness & Recreation student staff meetings and trainings
Lifeguard Supervisor
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification required
- CPR/AED Certification required
- Ensure safety of all swimmers in the pool area
- Ensure proper use and return of borrowed equipment
- Participate in monthly staff development and evaluation activities
- Clean pool daily
- Monitor and record all chemical levels
- Refill chemicals on a daily basis
- Monitor pool area to ensure proper use of facility
- Enforce all policies and procedures
- Responsible for providing positive customer service and dealing with customers in a positive manner including conflict resolution
- Responsible for the aquatic facility in the absence of the Aquatics Coordinator
- Providing leadership by assigning lifeguard duties, aiding in the instruction and training of lifeguards during in-service training sessions, evaluating CPR/AED, First-Aid, and Lifeguarding skills on a monthly basis and security of the aquatic facility
- Must be the most exemplary of all guards
- Responsible for the enforcement of all policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
Intramural Sports Supervisor
- Assist in the supervision of the Intramural Sports (IM) student staff
- Assist in the supervision of all IM activities and special events
- Assist in the planning and facilitation of all IM activities and special events
- Assist in the hiring of all IM student staff members
- Assist in the planning and facilitation of all IM training activities
- Attend all bi-weekly professional staff meetings
- Assist in the IM student staff evaluation process
- Ensure IM participants are abiding by all policies and procedures throughout the duration of their participation in a particular activity
- Ensure athletic fields/indoor courts are set-up for safe and proper use
- Other duties as assigned
Intramural Sports Staff
Referee
- Assist in set up and clean up of equipment and facility for assigned sport(s)
- Be knowledgeable of all the Intramural Sports officiating rules and playing guidelines for their assigned sport(s)
- Knowledgeable of the university’s Intramural Sports Program policies and procedures
- Attend regularly scheduled Intramural Sports staff meetings and training
- Perform other Intramural Sports program tasks as assigned by the Graduate Assistant for Intramural Sports and/or Wellness and Recreation professional staff members
- If the sport is co-ed confirm proper number of males and females on the court/field at all times
- Make fair and consistent calls
- Be respectful and professional to participants and fellow staff
- Inform scorekeepers of points scored and fouls incurred throughout the game
Scorekeeper
- Keep accurate score and time in accordance with the rules of the sport
- Assist referees in game preparation and teardown
- Knowledgeable of the university’s Intramural Sports Program policies and procedures
- Be knowledgeable of all the Intramural Sports officiating rules and playing guidelines for their assigned sport(s)
- Attend regularly scheduled Intramural Sports staff meetings and trainings
- Punctual for all intramural games
Personal Trainer
- Assess client’s fitness
- Create training programs for clients
- Provide support for clients as the progress through their training plan
- Ensure clients utilize safe and effective training techniques
- Report clients progress during training sessions
- Provide clients with satisfaction survey upon conclusion of training plan
- All Trainer interactions with guest should be perceived as being outgoing, friendly, and helpful
- Meet with Advisors on an ongoing basis
- Attend all Wellness & Recreation meetings and trainings
Fitness Instructor
- Knowledgeable in techniques and dynamics of Group Fitness
- Knowledge in a variety of Group Fitness classes
- Ensuring safe use of the WRC and fitness equipment
- Enforcement of WRC rules and regulations
- Record keeping
- General maintenance and clean up
- Providing positive customer service to patrons
- Providing a safe and fun environment for participants, promote knowledge of proper group fitness components (i.e. warm up, aerobic exercise, flexibility, cool down, ect.)
- Responsible for developing and leading multiple group fitness classes that range in a variety of levels and formats from Yoga to Hip Hop
- Current certification in an accredited organization such as: the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), or American Council on Exercise (ACE)
- CPR/AED and First-Aid certifications
- Required to participate in Continuing Education Credits (CEC’s or CEU’s)
